Description
Dating from 1686, this delightful and carefully restored 700 sq. ft. apartment is on the second floor of a traditional Alsatian house built into the ramparts of the small town of Eguisheim. One of two apartments in the same building, its traditional ambiance has been preserved and enhanced through careful restoration lovingly undertaken the artist/owner. With exposed ancient wood beamed ceilings, half-timbered walls, traditional decorative panting, and rustic wood and tiled floors, one can enjoy the charm of centuries past along with all the modern conveniences. The entrance to the apartment is located off a quiet pedestrian alleyway.
The main sitting room has antique furniture and accessories, wood paneling, green stained wooden beams, period wood dining table with chairs, and open kitchen with carved wood cabinets, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, TV and radio. Built-in seating is separated from the kitchen by a partially open wall of exposed wooden half-timbered structure.
The charming bedroom has an exposed wood beam ceiling and period bedside tables. Independent bathroom with shower and toilet.
Nearby Attractions
This quaint town, in the heart of Alsace, is constructed within fortresses originating in the thirteen century. Surrounded by scenic vineyards, it has picturesque streets lined with half-timbered houses, numerous inviting courtyards, and even an octagonal feudal castle. Located alongside the famous Alsatian wine road at the foot of the Vosges Mountains, Eguisheim is also a significant wine-producing centre. Walking trails through vineyards and forest are ten minutes away, as is the town of Colmar. Forty-five minutes to the International Basel/Mulhouse Airport.
