Description
This charming apartment is just a stone's throw from the Panthéon in the lively 5th arrondissement of Paris. Entered from a courtyard garden off the street, up seven steps, the flat is quiet and peaceful, in close proximity to the Latin Quarter, St. Germain-des-Près and the river Seine. Shops, restaurants, boulangeries, open-air food markets, charming squares are all within easy walking distance. Indoors, the comfortable and pleasant living room has two large windows overlooking a courtyard planted with trees; long taffeta drapes offer privacy. Hardwood floors throughout are softened by pretty area rugs. Furnishings are simple and tasteful, including a round table seating four, a sofa bed, an elegant buffet and decorative ceramic fireplace.
The tidy kitchenette, separated from the livingroom by a glass-paned door, is small but well equipped with a half-sized refrigerator, washing machine, two gas burners and combination microwave/convection oven. A supply of utensils, flatware and cookware will assist you in preparing meals from your local traiteur or market findings.
Down the hall are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and closet, the other with a queen size bed and large mirrored wardrobe. Mattresses and bed linens are of good quality. Tall French windows look out to the courtyard.
The bathroom, clad in white mosaic tile, features a large stall shower with glass doors and a rainshower head. A second toilet and sink is found by the coat closet in the entry.
Nearby Attractions
Rue Descartes runs through the middle of the 5th arrondissement, with the Latin Quarter and the Seine at the northern end, and the Rue Mouffetard with its famous market at the other. This narrow street is lined with a wonderful variety of ethnic restaurants, shops, youthful bars and boulangeries. The apartment is located two minutes from the Panthéon and the pretty winding cobblestone streets around the Place Sainte Geneviève. To the east, just past Rue Monge, lies the Jardin des Plantes; to the west is the Jardin du Luxembourg. The métro stop Cardinal Lemoine is just two blocks away.
