Description
Elegant and spacious, this two-bedroom apartment will let you comfortably unwind in the very heart of the beloved St. Germain-des-Prés neighborhood. Located in a Haussmann-era building on the corner of Rue de Babylone and Boulevard Raspail, the 985 sq. ft. unit overlooks a small public park on one end and an enclosed courtyard on the other, making it exceptionally quiet despite its central location.
Accessed from a courtyard off the Boulevard Raspail, the entry has a newly rebuilt glass-paneled elevator. The apartment is on the second floor. Classic Parisian interior details are present throughout, from the parquet floors and decorative white marble fireplaces to the delicate sconces and ornate wall moldings. Woven rugs and exotic artifacts from around the world enhance the warm, homey décor.
From the entry hall, glass-paned doors open to the living room. Furnished primarily with antiques, the room includes two sofas and several occasional tables and chairs. TV with cable and DVD player.
South-facing French windows open to a standing balcony with wrought-iron railings that overlooks the verdant Parc du Boucicaut across the street. Double doors lead to a formal dining room, also overlooking the park. The dining room seats six comfortably. Built-in cabinetry contains extra glassware and antique serving implements. The petite kitchen across the hall faces the courtyard. Cooking equipment includes a four-burner gas stove, full-size electric oven, dishwasher, and basic appliances. Table and chairs for two.
At the other end of the hall are the two bedrooms, each overlooking the courtyard. The first of the two is smaller, with a double bed, desk, dresser and built-in bookshelves. The larger bedroom is reached through the first bedroom or through the bathroom, and is furnished with a double bed, desk, dresser, shelves and stereo.
Connecting the two bedrooms is a narrow bathroom with tiled bathtub, wall mounted or hand-held shower head, bidet, and washing machine. An independent toilet is found just outside the dining room in the hallway.
Nearby Attractions
St. Germain Two-Bedroom is located between the 6th and 7th arrondissements, an area rich with treasured Parisian haunts. A short stroll through the park across the street will land you at Le Bon Marché department store and its Grande Epicerie for gourmet food shopping. You'll have your pick of exclusive clothing boutiques, parfumeries, chocolate shops, excellent boulangeries, pâtisseries, restaurants and cafés within easy walking distance. Visit the Marché Biologique Raspail on Sundays for gorgeous organic produce, cheeses and breads. The lovely Jardins du Luxembourg are a few blocks to the north. Guests wishing to venture beyond the city limits by car have the use of a private parking space.

We loved this apartment, very spacious especially considering that Paris apartments are usually small. The owners were gracious and helpful. We shopped at farmers' markets two blocks away, three times a week, and at the Bon Marché's Grande Epicerie. We were able to be "locals" for a short time. Bus and metro access is convenient.
