This chic one-bedroom apartment is on the second floor (American) of a 17th century building up the street from the Place des Vosges, one of the most beautiful squares in Paris and a favorite of Parisians and tourists alike. Fully renovated and furnished a few years ago, Chemin Vert combines comfort and style in a truly remarkable Parisian location.

The light-filled living room has three large windows overlooking a quiet courtyard. A Ligne Roset sofa transforms into a bed that sleeps two, with a mattress and linen quality that is higher than most normal beds. Two designer chairs and one ottoman add to the rich colors and classy furnishings of the living room, along with its refinished hardwood floors and tastefully painted walls. Cable television, VCR, stereo and high-speed (DSL) Internet access are provided for your enjoyment and convenience.

The well-equipped kitchen lies just off the living room, and contains an antique oval table with four matching chairs. High quality refinished counters, sink, and tile floor make for pleasurable cooking and dining; equipment includes a refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker.

The bedroom contains a queen-size Ligne Roset bed with a padded headboard and fine linens. French doors open to reveal the quiet courtyard below, and a walk-in closet provides plenty of storage space. Side tables hold reading lamps on each side of the bed, and another table displays a small TV. The celadon-colored walls add to the peace and tranquility of this restful room.

The tiled bathroom has a bathtub and shower that can be closed off with a glass door, a towel warmer, sink and linen closet; the toilet is in a separate room with a second sink.

The apartment is near the Place des Vosges, an elegant public square in the heart of the Marais. One of Paris’s most beautiful and historic neighborhoods, Le Marais was originally marshland and later became home to kings and some of the most important figures and events in Parisian history. Henry IV had posh digs at the Place des Vosges in the 1600s, and Victor Hugo, Balzac and Dumas have all called the Marais home.

You can stroll along the Seine, view the Picasso Museum at the Hôtel Salé (closed for renovation until 2012), and the Centre Pompidou, a world-class modern art museum. Just across the river you can marvel at the architecture of the Cathedral Notre Dame and the gothic Saint-Chapelle. The Marais is both historic and brimming with youthful energy and entertainment to suit all tastes, from opera and ballet at The Bastille, to lively nightclubs, cafés and jazz bars.

General Location Map

The wine and chocolate made a nice welcome to our apartment, and the location of the property was excellent. The apartment manual provided was very helpful. I unfortunately had to refer to it for a hospital stay. I was treated like royalty at the American Hospital in Paris.  Our contact person was also really helpful.
