Description
This breathtaking mansion, located in the vineyards surrounding the small village of Clessé, deep in the wine country of southern Burgundy, offers tasteful accommodation for couples, families, or larger gatherings for special events.
Built in 1731, the Château was fully restored in 2005; a careful redesign permitted the construction of six beautiful, modern apartments, all while preserving the building's original structure and elegant historical details.
Each apartment features an open floor plan, hardwood or stone tile floors, spacious living rooms with original fireplaces, and exposed timberwork. The bedrooms are furnished with top-quality double beds; each has its own ensuite bath with tub or shower. Gracious dining areas and contemporary kitchens are equipped with all new appliances: flat ceramic cooktop with oven, espresso machine, dishwasher, W/D, among other amenities. In addition, each apartment has a flat-screen satellite television, PC, telephone, and audio system outlets.
On the ground floor there are two apartments, each over 1200 sq.ft, with two bedrooms and access to pretty garden patios. The second floor has two three-bedroom apartments, each measuring over 1600 sq.ft, with original exposed beams and rafters. Two more three-bedroom apartments upstairs, under the gabled roof, also measure over 1600 sq.ft.
Outdoors, the geometrical layout of the gardens is peacefully enchanting. From the pool behind the mansion, you can view the ten acres of natural chardonnay vines that surround the building and its annexes and grace the rolling hills of Clessé.

Nearby Attractions
The Château is situated on 10 acres of vineyard, cultivated by celebrated organic winemaker Jean Thévenet, who produces a delicious chardonnay.
The region is known for its Romanesque churches, the magnificent Abbey of Cluny, the ecumenical village of Taizé and the limestone cliffs of La Roche de Solutré.
The village of Clessé is located 82 km from Lyon, near major motorways and the Mâcon Loché TGV station (21 km), 90 minutes from Paris and Geneva and 30 minutes from Lyon St. Exupéry International Airport.
The intense cultural life in the nearby cities of Tournus, Mâcon, Chalon-sur-Saône and Dijon adds to the many leisure activities and pleasures available locally.
There are numerous opportunities for sports: the Voie Verte (“Green Road”) is ideal for bicycle rides or a walk in the country; an 18-hole golf course lies immediately adjacent to the property; horseback riding is available at a number of farms in the area; a boat tour, or kayaking/canoeing along the Saône River is sure to delight open-air enthusiasts.
