Description
This serene, comfortable family home is located in the heart of Provence, between the vibrant city of Aix and the splendid landscape of the Lubéron. Lovers of nature will delight in the surrounding 34 acres of almond trees, lavender fields, truffle oaks and pines. Once an ancient "bergerie", or sheep stable, the home has been renovated with a Provençal savoir-faire, blending traditional materials such as exposed beams, local stone and colorful tiles, with modern amenities, like the fully updated kitchen. Families and groups of friends will find La Bergerie a most memorable spot to relax and spend time together. And the easy proximity to the countless cultural and natural gems of the region makes this an ideal vacation spot from which to embark on your adventures in Provence.
With nearly 3000 square feet, the house is arranged on several half-floors, each separated by a few steps. Two living areas are furnished with large armchairs and sofas; one of them has a huge stone fireplace, and the other opens to a sprawling outdoor terrace. The spacious kitchen is equipped with a wall oven, microwave, and two refrigerators, plus all necessary utensils and cookware. Adjacent to the kitchen, the dining room opens directly onto the outdoor terrace and park beyond.
There are five bedrooms in total in the house: a master suite with a queen-sized bed and a full en-suite bathroom, a single bed in a separate room attached to the main bedroom, a second bedroom with a double bed and its own shower, another with a queen, and two with two twins each. The latter three bedrooms share a full-sized bathroom with bathtub, shower, a double sink and a separate toilet.
Outside, there is a small guest house, about 290 square feet, equipped with two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two twin beds and a mezzanine with room for additional mattresses on the upper level for extra guests. This guest house has its own bathroom and toilet.
Nearby Attractions
La Bergerie is located a few minutes away from Peyrolles-en-Provence, a village 20 minutes north of Aix-en-Provence. All basic staples are found in Peyrolles as well as the beautiful Château du Roi René, and a 4.5 kilometer walking trail exploring the lush forests of Loubatas. Delightful nearby villages include Jouques, Pertuis and Ansouis. Aix has all of the attractions of a larger city (shopping, restaurants, museums), yet keeps a warm Provençal feel in its quiet winding streets, tree-lined main boulevard and numerous fountains.
