This cheerful one-story home, perfect for family vacations, seems to open its arms and embrace visitors from within its curved walls.  Surrounded by a sprawling, beautifully maintained garden with swimming pool and dining terraces, Les Amandiers can comfortably accommodate two or three generations. 

A long driveway, bordered by fragrant lavender and cypress trees, leads to the property's large front yard and extended patio. The house's airy, open floor plan allows for guests to move freely from common areas to bedrooms to the surrounding gardens. Typical of Provençal country home, it has gently arched doorways and exposed oak beams throughout, tile floors and a large central fireplace. The pleasant traditional décor is a blend of new and antique pieces; beds and mattresses are brand new and outfitted with quality linens.
The "daytime" area is comprised of a spacious living room centered around a large elevated fireplace, adjacent dining room seating eight or more, and spacious tiled kitchen. Just outside the living room, a shaded terrace with table and chairs allows for three meals a day al fresco most of the year. The pool lies on the same side of the house as the terrace.  

A washing machine (no dryer) is located in a separate building outside the kitchen.

The right wing is the sleeping area, comprised of four bedrooms and three en-suite bathrooms, one of which is shared by two bedrooms. In total there are two queen beds, one double and two singles. Each bedroom has windows or French doors opening directly into the gardens.  Each bathroom is tiled in a different color scheme. The master bath has a tub, shower cabin and sink; the other two bathrooms have showers, WCs and sinks.

Les Amandiers is a delightful country residence where children can play freely and safely in a fenced garden, while adults can relax in the magical light of Provence or under the shade of the wraparound patio. Parties of two to eight will feel equally comfortable there.  Bicycles are available for guests.

The house is walking distance (under ¾ mile) to the authentic and lovely village of Eygalières. This is quintessential Provence, a region of almond trees and olive groves, vineyards and lavender fields. The region features exquisite olive oils, excellent local wines, and the tastiest fruit and vegetables one can find; both the people and climate are wonderfully hospitable. The village and hills of Les Baux are a short drive away, as well as towns such as St Remy de Provence and Arles, nestled in the landscapes made famous by Vincent Van Gogh. For those familiar with the short story, “Le Moulin d’Alphonse Daudet” stands on a peaceful hill between Eygalières and Arles.

The beautiful city of Avignon is half an hour’s drive away (20 miles).

Eygalières itself looks like a movie set, with its town hall, church, and main street lined with sycamore trees, and the ruins of a castle outlined against the evening light. At the same time, Eygalieres is vibrant and alive: old men play cards and drink ‘anisette’ in cafes and play ‘boules’ on the square. The weekly market is packed with locals and visitors. Guests will find myriad restaurants, a bakery and small shops to find treasures to bring home.  Unspoiled and prosperous, this is an idyllic place in central Provence.
