Description
Moulin de Boursac is a beautifully renovated historic olive mill dating from the eleventh and eighteenth centuries. Inside and out, this property has a rich old-world ambiance with stone structures from the original mill, landscaped Provencal gardens that include the millstream, and pool with pool house.
Antiques and authentic architectural accents throughout the villa add to its charm and character. The first floor features a large open living/dining room with several stone archways, a massive fireplace, and original exposed wood beam ceiling and stone floor. The comfortable furnishings include two L-shaped sofas on either side of the room with a large millstone in the center serving as an impressive coffee table. A long wooden dining table seats up to fourteen guests. A separate den functions as an office complete with DSL line.
The kitchen, large enough for several cooks and a table seating six, has a terracotta tile floor, wood beamed ceiling, tile counters, gas and electric cook tops, refrigerator/freezer, two ovens, and a dishwasher. The separate laundry room, just off the kitchen, has a large capacity washer and dryer. Powder room.
The six tastefully decorated bedrooms, all with en suite baths, are arranged on the first and second floors. The first floor bedroom with a double bed featuring specialty French fabrics and ceramics is located next to the millstream that runs the length of the property; the en-suite bathroom has a bathtub, pedestal sink and toilet. The mill bedroom with two twin beds is next to the ancient mill room and features a courtyard view; the bathroom is equipped with a bathtub with hand held shower, two sinks and a toilet.
On the second floor, the master bedroom has a plantation style queen-size bed, painted mural on the ceiling, and an adjoining sun deck with table for dining, and its own bathroom. The other bedroom with a full size bed has a pleasant view of a grape arbor. There is a separate wing with another bedroom with a queen size bed and bath adjoining a with a light-filled dormitory with three sets of bunk beds, a sofa bed, and several climbing ropes and gymnastic rings for the young and the young at heart with its own bathroom.
Another very private bedroom with a full size bed with private entry and private bathroom has a Japanese feel with its décor featuring Japanese prints
Pets are not accepted.
Nearby Attractions
Moulin de Boursac is a short walk to the Vence town center where winding streets are lined with authentic medieval buildings filled with many excellent restaurants, shops, and galleries. One of the best market streets in Southern France is in Vence’s well-preserved old town still enclosed by the original rampart wall. The well-known Chapelle du Rosaire, designed by Matisse, is nearby.
The neighboring town of St. Paul-de-Vence features the Fondation Maeght, one of France’s finest museums of modern art. A short drive takes you to Cabris, Tourrettes-sur-Loup, Mougins, Valbonne, and Grasse with its Musée Fragonard and Musée International de la Parfumerie. Further cultural opportunities abound, including the Musée Fernand Léger in Biot and Musée Matisse in Nice. Nice airport is 30 minutes away. Six miles to the Mediterranean. Three hour drive to Aix.
