This lovely, traditional  two-story townhouse is situated on a quiet street in the heart of the picturesque town of Montagnac.  Built for one of the many local wine producers, the entire house has been tastefully restored. It is furnished with a mix of quality antiques and new furniture; rustic details such as original tiles and exposed ceiling beams add to its character while vivid colors lend a cheerful regional charm.

On the main floor, the bright yellow kitchen features colorful tiles and modern appliances, including a gas cooktop and oven, microwave, American-style refrigerator/freezer, and large stainless steel sink. The living room is comfortably furnished with a leather sofa and armchair, CD player, fireplace, and French doors to a small balcony. A small room off the kitchen is perfect for indoor dining and relaxing, with doors opening to a private terrace with barbecue.
Bath with shower stall, sink, and separate toilet room.

There are two bedrooms on the second floor. The spacious master bedroom has a sloped ceiling with rustic exposed wood beams, original tile floor, light blue walls, queen-size bed, and built-in closet/storage area. The second bedroom has cheerful salmon colored walls, tile floor, sloped ceiling, double bed, and window seat. Large bathroom with colorful tile accents has a separate toilet room, corner bathtub, heated towel rack, and sink. All linens provided. Central heating.

Amenities are just steps from the house, including a bustling Friday market, antique stores, and many wineries including the Montagnac Cave Cooperative. The vineyards of Languedoc-Roussillon are some of the oldest and largest in the world. The nearby town of Pézenas has quality restaurants, cultural events, and a great Saturday market. Within a short drive is a plethora of lovely beaches, from quiet sandy stretches to the glamour and nightlife at Cap d’Agde. Marsellian has great seafood restaurants, and interesting caves. Méze and Bouziques are famous for their oysters. A bit farther inland is Canal du Midi with its shaded towpaths. For spectacular scenery, hiking, and exploring nature, there is Languedoc National Park. The renowned medieval walled city of Carcasonne, is about an hour's drive from the house.
I was delighted with the Montagnac house, as were my guests.
Esther had additional advice and recommendations on events, markets and local resources. She is a gem!
The houseguests I had at various times were pleased with arrangement of the house and its kitchen and laundry, and thrilled with the local food, art, music and wine opportunities. For Seattle folks, the nearby oysters in summer were a delightful surprise.
