Description Amenities In the area Map Reviews
This charming property is a combination of three Breton-style houses built between the 17th and 19th centuries. With beds accommodating up to nineteen, three bathrooms with tubs, and two shower rooms, this is a perfect location for large group gatherings. The last of four properties on a picturesque lane through an old farm, it provides sweeping views of wheat fields and woods in the lovely valley of l’Isole.

Thick granite walls and dormer windows in each of the houses lend them a traditional, historic charm. Two of them form an L connected by an interior door; the third house faces the other two, creating an interior courtyard with an old stone well, container plantings, and outdoor furniture for dining. A large garden surrounds the entire property.

The two attached houses each have a sitting room, a dining room, and a kitchen. One sitting room has a large country fireplace, rustic beamed ceiling, tile floor, sofa, and several chairs. This room is open to the smaller kitchen, equipped with a gas cook top, sink, refrigerator, hutch for dishes, and French doors to the garden. The second tile-floored sitting room has one wall featuring exposed posts and beams with an open view to the adjacent kitchen. Comfortable furnishings include two large sofas, several upholstered chairs, and a traditional wood stove. In the kitchen, also with a tile floor, there is a gas range, a large refrigerator, double sink, dishwasher, and wood dining table seating four. Washer and dryer.

The two attached houses have a total of two bedrooms with a double bed, three with two twin beds, and two more bedrooms with a single bed each. The third, separate house has one bedroom with a double bed, a dorm room sleeping five, and a bathroom with tub (no kitchen).

To take advantage of the lovely Breton landscape, there is a hiking trail along the Elée River near the property. Five miles north, the old Breton style village of Quimperlé has all necessary amenities, including restaurants, supermarkets, shops, and museums. In the wooded Aven estuary half an hour away, picturesque Pont-Aven was once a center for late 19th century artists including Gauguin. It continues to have a strong art focus with over fifty galleries and the informative Musée de Pont-Aven. Ferries to the scenic islands of Les Glénans, Belle-Ile and Ouessant are forty miles away. Several large summer festivals take place in the area, including Le Festival de Cornouailles in July and Le Festival Interceltique de Lorient in August. Ten miles to beaches.

Thanks so much -- everything worked out perfectly for us. Hopefully for the Dumontiers as well -- Jacques and Gaëlle were very helpful in getting us set up.
