Description Amenities In the area Map Reviews
This centuries-old house perched on the edge of the quaint village of Venasque offers its guests spacious comfort, tasteful furnishings, spectacular views and all the charms of Provençal village life.

The home benefits from recent renovations of the bathrooms and the creation of a unique master suite leading to a rooftop terrace. From the terrace, from another veranda off the living room, and from many of the large windows, there are stunning panoramic views of the orchards and vineyards in the valley below the village.

The main floor has an expansive living room, dining room, kitchen, and full bath with shower. A queen-sized bed in the living room is a convenient alternative for those visitors who may have difficulty climbing stairs. An ancient stairway leads to the lower level sitting room connecting to two bedrooms. The bedroom with the queen-sized bed also has a full ensuite bathroom with a shower. The second bedroom has two twin beds, a fold-out sofa bed, and has access to a small garden and patio where the BBQ grill is located. A laundry room with washer and dryer are also located on this level.   The top floor of the house features the master bedroom with a full ensuite bathroom with separate tub and shower, as well as a private rooftop terrace offering breathtaking views of Mt. Ventoux and the valley below.
  • Multiple terraces offer panoramic countryside views

In Venasque, there are three restaurants, a boulangerie, a small grocery store and other basic amenities. Known for its quiet beauty, the town tends to attract artists and musicians and there are several studios and shops showcasing local arts and crafts. Long  hikes in the countryside and sunset games of boules at the top of the village are among favorite local pastimes.  The charming village St. Didier, five minutes away, has a Monday market and several shops.

The Vaucluse region of Northern Provence is one of the most picturesque in France, offering myriad possibilities for an interesting vacation. Southeast of Venasque, the perched village of Gordes is known for its nearly perfect architectural harmony and vibrant art scene, especially during the summertime. The nearby Abbaye de Senanque, bordered by fields of lavender, is one of the finest Romanesque Cistercian monasteries in France. Further southeast is the enchanting hilltop village of Roussillon, with its ochre cliffs and vividly hued buildings. To the east, where the Sorgue river splits into two channels, the town of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue features a series of lovely bridged canals and wooden water mills, as well as an excellent antique market on Sundays, and locally produced fabrics and carpet. The southern Côtes-du-Rhone is famed for the production of excellent wines, in towns such as Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes-de-Venise.

I want to express how fantastic the house in Venasque was. It was much better than the photos. It surpassed my expectations in every way. It was so hard to leave. I am happy to recommend this property to anyone looking to travel to Provence and also happy to recommend your services. I could not have gotten through the planning stage without your help and reassurance!  You were right.  I am already thinking about how and when I can return. L.M., Scotch Plains, NJ, Aug. 2013
