Overlooking a pleasant, active street with high-end shops and grand, traditional family residences, the Aix Mirabeau Apartment is only a block away from the famous tree-lined Boulevard Cours Mirabeau. Situated on the fourth floor American, no elevator, it is bathed in yellow and ochre, with traditional red “tomettes” tiles on the floor. This bright, fully renovated apartment embodies all the typical charm and warmth of a Provençal home. With double paned windows and no bars or restaurants close enough to disturb you at night, you can truly enjoy being in the heart of things.

Fully equipped with all the amenities, the apartment is decorated in a charming mix of Provençal antiques, fabrics, and artwork. Tall French windows in both the sitting room and hallway flood the apartment with light. To the left of the entry, the kitchen has cheerful yellow and red Provençal tiles, washer and dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, oven, cook top, and all the dishes and cookware needed for a pleasant stay.  An eating bar with wrought iron stools separates the kitchen from the sitting room, providing the perfect spot to enjoy your morning croissants. The sitting area is comfortable and cozy with a dark brown leather sofa, two soft buttercup-colored upholstered armchairs, fireplace, an entertainment center with a wide flat-screen TV, CD player, and a large selection of English language books and CDs. At the far end of this room, a dinning area seating four has views to the elegant turn-of-the-century buildings just across the street.

A light-filled hallway off the main living area leads to the bedroom featuring a queen sized wrought iron bed with new American mattress and box springs, down filled comforters, and quality all-cotton linens. Closets along the back of the bedroom have convenient hanging systems and shelving. Aix-En-Provence, one of the most appealing cities in south of France, is known for its elegant 18th and 19th-century architecture. Located only a block from the grand boulevard Cours Mirabeau and steps away from the Museum of Natural History , you can stroll along this famous, wide, tree-lined boulevard, viewing aristocratic townhouses and enjoying the many wonderful sidewalk cafés. Just north of the Cours Mirabeau, you can explore the medieval town center with its maze of narrow, winding streets and many fountains. Aix offers numerous art and cultural events year-round, including opera and jazz festivals during the summer. Performances take place in and around the centuries-old buildings. Illuminated at night, their architectural beauty is accentuated and seems to lend a sense of magic to any event. Using Aix as a base, you may embark on a variety of intriguing daytrips. One can roam the historic of Roman ruins of Arles and Nîmes, the unspoiled villages and vineyards of the Lubéron Valley, or the various market towns including St-Remy-de-Provence. Marseille is an easy drive to the south, as are the picturesque fishing villages and resorts of Cassis, St. Tropez, and Cannes on the Mediterranean coast.

We thoroughly enjoyed your apartment. The location is just right, in the middle of town.  If I ever wanted a French apartment this would be it. The decor fit my tastes perfectly. Having stayed six weeks we can truthfully say this apartment met all our expectations.
