Situated on lovely grounds with a sparkling pool, poolhouse, lush lawn and gardens, this delightful renovated house is conveniently within moments of the center of St. Rémy-de-Provence.  Enclosed by old stonewalls, it also has the benefit of total privacy, despite its proximity to town.

The house is designed for easy living with bright, open rooms allowing for convenient access to the pool and terrace through several French doors. Carefully maintained, the interiors are enhanced by quality furniture and tasteful décor. The open living room is warm and light, with pale yellow walls, terra cotta tile floors, satellite TV/DVD and French doors opening toward the pool. In the adjacent dining area there is a table for six, French country china cabinet, and windows facing the yard.  From here a large open doorway segues into the fully-equipped kitchen, featuring a gas range, tile counters and floors, eye-level oven and microwave, and dishwasher.

All bedrooms have pleasant green views onto the surrounding gardens, yard and pool.  The master bedroom is furnished with comfortable queen-sized bed, the second bedroom has a double bed and the third has two twin beds that may be combined to form a double.  The master bath has a tub, double sink and toilet; a second bathroom with tub and shower is shared by the other two bedrooms.

Maison Provencale has a fortunate location in one of the loveliest mid-size towns in the south of France. A short stroll will bring you to boulangeries, restaurants, darling shops, a weekly market with food, crafts and antiques, a cinema with a once-a-week English picture, and many other activities.

Set at the foot of the Alpille mountains, St-Rémy-de-Provence is charming and relaxed, particularly inspiring to artists for the quality of its light. Van Gogh spent his last year here, in one of his most intense and prolific periods, producing such tableaux as Nuit Etoilée ("Starry Night") and Les Blés Jaunes ("Cornfield and Cypress Trees"). For those interested in Provençal culture and history, the Musée des Alpilles offers a glimpse into local folk life and arts, with a special section on Nostradamus, who was born in St-Rémy. The flowered cloisters at St. Paul de Mausole, the Romanesque church where Van Gogh sought refuge in his last troubled days, are a beautiful sight and rich source of history. Some of the best-preserved Roman monuments in the world are found just outside the center of town in the Roman ruins of Glanum, once a Celtic settlement, which includes a memorial mausoleum to Caesar and Augustus, erected by their descendants in 1st- century AD.

Exploring La Chaine des Alpilles is one of the most pleasurable experiences one can have in Provence. Beyond the lush land of poppy fields and almond and olive groves around St. Remy, these limestone hills form a stark and mesmerizing contrast against the profound blue of the illuminated Provençal sky. Les Baux-de-Provence, perched on a barren plateau in the middle of the Alpilles, is one of the most beautiful and memorable villages in France.

General Location Map

I must tell you about our great experience in your rental unit in St Remy. I am not a member of Facebook, Twitter or Snapchat etc. If I were I would be telling everyone how much we enjoyed our stay at the house.
Yiur representative was so nice and welcoming and explained how everything worked in the house.  The kitchen was easy to find everything we needed to fix a fabulous meal after shopping at the Wednesday market in St Remy.  We made Pork Lion with French Puy Lentils, Potatoes and Green beans. Dessert was saute figs with raspberries and cheese, similar to ricotta.
It was wonderful having a washer and dryer so that we could travel lightly and get all our luggage for 6 people into a 7 passenger car in one trip.
The house had some features we did not expect.  It was stocked with brochures and books of all the places in the surrounding area we wanted to visit.  It also had maps of some of these locations that we had researched before we left the USA, but could not find maps before we went to France.
We had no problems except the weather had cooled enough most of us did not want to brave the swimming pool. I think next time I would visit in July. The house, the village, the restaurants, the Wednesday market were everything I hoped.  My only regret is that we could not spend a whole month there.
Thank you. Diane D, Florida, Sept 2017

We loved this house! It was so comfortable. The privacy, large yard and pool made us feel like we were in the country, yet we were a few minutes walk from town. The location was great and so convenient. We walked to dinner every night. We especially enjoyed the pool since we were in St. Remy during a heat wave. Tracy told us about les jeux aux tarrots and it was the highlight of our week. We had a wonderful time in St. Remy.Mary JO S.Pittsburgh, PA. June 2015

We loved the pool and the outdoor furniture. Beds were comfortable too. Plenty of storage space in bedrooms. There was a festival in town that we could easily walk to and enjoy without the hassle of parking. All in all, our best family trip in years and much of it we give the credit to such a comfortable home to rent in a great location.

Claudette's recommendation of this property was right on target. It made my 50th birthday celebration very special. The close proximity of the property to the center of town - a quick 3 minute walk - was a plus. For dinner we would stop at the boucherie, the boulangerie, the fromagerie, and the market - all on the route home - for a wonderful home cooked provencal meal. After dinner, we would stroll back into to town to the glacier for dessert. St. Remy has excellent cafes and it even has something for gourmands wanting a finer dining experience, Valruges ' superb restaurant .
The property in St. Remy is so centrally located that short excursions to Cassis, Avignon, Toulon, Les Baux, Marseille were all less then one hour away. We intend on staying there again next summer - for 3 weeks! Thanks again for helping to make this vacation very special. We look forward to doing business with you again in the future.
