Domaine de Fleurac is ideally suited as a base for exploring the beautiful scenic river valleys of the Dordogne and the Vézère. The estate is about a ten minute drive from Les Eyzies, home to the Musée Nationale de la Préhistoire, located in a 16th century castle. There are a variety of other fascinating prehistoric sites along the valley of the Vézère, including Le Moustier, La Laugerie, Font de Gaume, and Combarelle, which are still open to the public.

A thirty-minute drive brings you to the chateaux of Les Milandes, and to Castelnaud on the Dordogne. The unique medieval towns of Sarlat, Domme, Beynac, and La Roque- Gageac are all within a scenic forty minute drive. The Château de Castelnaud, built on a rocky outcropping, offers a magnificent view of the Dordogne valley and houses the Musée de la Guerre au Moyen Age with an unrivalled collection of arms, armour and medieval war machines. Sarlat is renowned for its beautifully preserved medieval architecture and sprawling Saturday morning market. A trip there can be conveniently combined with a visit to the Jardins d’Eyrignac and the beautiful ruins of the Château de Commarque. Le Bugue is a busy market town with several attractions of particular interest to children , including the Aquarium du Périgord Noir, the Village du Bournat, the Ferme de Jacquou and les Etangs du Bos , and a large Water Park. There are also many opportunities for canoeing along the rivers. Finally, no visit to Dadinou is complete without an excursion to the nearby Côte d’Or and St Léon de Vézère with its exceptional Romanesque Church.

General Location Map

If my friends and I had personally visited France to pick out a location for our week together there, we could not possibly have done better. What a beautiful, peaceful place. We felt like we were vacationing on a movie set, and I think we all felt a little proprietary about Domaine de Fleurac by the time we left. The owners called us on the first night to be sure we'd arrived safely and that we found everything in order. The cook and the property manager were so helpful and very kind. We will always treasure the memories of our week together there, and were very sad to leave.
