Description Amenities In the area Map Reviews
Dating back to 1745, this wonderful house epitomizes the romantic French country getaway. With southern and western exposure, the house benefits from ample sunlight and the gentle cross-breezes of this temperate region. Its historic character is evident in details such as thick stone walls, exposed wood beams, stone fireplaces, large shuttered windows and antique tile floors, while the fully updated kitchen and bathrooms provide comtemporary comfort. The lovely grounds are planted with a variety of flowers and trees, including grapevines, figs, and cherries for guests to enjoy, depending on the season.

One enters the house by way of a large foyer. To the left is the bright and airy living room, with windows facing the garden and vineyard beyond, and French doors opening to an outdoor patio with furniture. The indoor sitting area has a sofa, coffee table, two writing desks and two armchairs. Classic stone fireplace. Amenities include TV with CNN, computer hook-up, and stereo system with CD player.

The country kitchen has a massive stone hearth and a rustic wood dining table seating up to twelve. Cooking equipment includes a four-burner gas cook top, double sink, wall-mounted electric oven, microwave, convenient prep area with a separate sink, pantry, washing machine (sorry, no dryer) and dishwasher.  A door in the kitchen opens to a pleasant outdoor breakfast area.

On the main floor, the spacious master bedroom has large windows that look out to sunflower fields and an old stone barn.  The room has a French queen bed, a couch, a desk, ample closet space, and a white stone fireplace. Its en suite master bath is nicely equipped with two pedestal sinks, a toilet, a bathtub with hand held shower and a pretty stained glass window. A second main-floor bedroom also has views over the pretty grounds. Furnishings include a queen bed, chairs, a bureau and an antique armoire.  Just outside this room is a second bathroom with stall shower, sink and separate toilet.

A 17th century walnut staircase leads from the entry to the second floor. The upstairs has hardwood floors and low ceilings traversed by a massive wooden beam. Four small shuttered windows allow light into the attic-like space. The two bedrooms, furnished with two double beds and a single, make a particularly nice area for children's playtime.

No smoking, pets, or children under eight.
